ROSE SCARTH

Rose passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 100. She will be sadly missed by her children Randall, Larry, Glenn, Rhonda and their families. Her husband Herb passed away in 2001.

Rose and her twin Rae were born on February 13, 1924. She grew up in Winnipeg’s north end and attended St. Nicholas, Sir Isaac Newton and King Edward Schools.

She started working at Christie Biscuits where she met Herb and they were married June 29, 1946. They had very busy lives building their home in Weston, having their family, and building a cottage at Brereton Lake. She continued to work over the years and had a long career at Sears in the lighting department. She retired from Sears in 1987 and enjoyed the friendships that she built there by being part of the Sears Retirement Club.

Rose and Herb loved to travel and visited Europe, Hawaii, Cuba and the States. They especially enjoyed their many trips to Las Vegas to visit her family. After Herb passed away, Rose enjoyed going on cruises with Rhonda and had many adventures together.

She moved into Kiwanis Chateau in 2010 where she spent the next 14 years making many friends and took part in as many activities as she could. To her, living at Kiwanis was like being on a cruise ship – her words.

Her life was full, and her dream was to reach 100 years of age, and she did in style. Our mother felt the following song described her years:

And now, the end is here

And so I’ve faced my final curtain

My friends, I’ll say it clear

I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain

I’ve lived a life that’s full

I’ve travelled each and every highway

But more, much more than this

I did it my way.

We love you and miss you, Mom.

Private services are being held.
