Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJON MARLIUS OTTENSON
In loving memory
Jon ended his courageous battle with cancer on the morning of December 5 in Pinawa, MB, peacefully in his sleep.
Jon is fondly remembered as the son of Jon Sr. (Debbie) and Edye (Pat - deceased), brother to Kris, Reghan, Leslie, and Sandra, husband to Tracy, father to Jordon, Hartley, and Rose, and grandfather to Audrey.
Jon was a mischievous, fun-loving, and curious man: a lover of all music (particularly punk-rock), hockey, and a seemingly never-ending array of DIY projects. He found great joy in bringing people together to enjoy the fruits of life, learning things along the way, and sharing his experiences with as many people as he could get to stick around and listen. He was tireless in his pursuit of fun.
Jon made it his purpose to find ways to support and give back to communities that welcomed him and his family. He volunteered as a coach, organizer, manager, driver, or moderator. He was a faithful friend of Bill W. for over a decade and found incredible resolve in his journey of recovery.
A special thank you to Dr. Paul Daeninck of CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. Michel Bruneau of Lac du Bonnet/Pinawa Hospital and all of the amazing nurses, support staff and volunteers along the way for their tireless pursuit of quality of life for Jon.
His family and friends will miss him dearly.
In lieu of a service, a Celebration of Life hosted by the family will be held in the spring.
Please consider a donation to one of the following causes in Jon’s memory: Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba , MS Society Canada.

The strength of Jon always amazed me. He and Tracey supported me through depression many times even though they were going through Jon’s cancer! I really hope we can hang out again with you and your big angel wings! - Posted by: Dorothy (Friend ) on: Dec 25, 2024

I was so very sad, this morning, to read of Jon's passing. I first met Jon through Heather and Colin McCheyne, playing with the Schlongs. Also Jordon attended the daycare I worked at. I hope your love and memories of your time together helps to ease the loss a little bit. Sending you and the family much love. Franca/Fran - Colin's Godmother. - Posted by: Franca McQuiggin (friend) on: Dec 14, 2024
