WANDA GOZDA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful, loving, and caring Mamusia, Babcia, Babunia, sister, ciocia and friend. Wanda Gozda passed away peacefully, at the age of 84 years, at Riverview Health Centre on December 8, 2024, with her daughter by her side.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Boguslawa Dittmar (Mieczyslaw); her granddaughter Jessica Mendres (Michael); and great-grandsons, Landon and Grayson. Wanda also leaves to mourn her sister Stanislawa Bozynska, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stefania and Kazimierz Juskow; sister Jozefa Maciejko; brothers-in-law, Jan Bozynski and Piotr Maciejko; and nephew Zenon Bozynski.
Wanda was born on November 25, 1940 in Pilatkowce, Poland. She and her family were displaced during the Second World War and eventually settled in Kowalowice, Poland. Wanda obtained a degree, choosing a career as a seamstress, when she was just 16 years old and immensely enjoyed her work. She started her family and her daughter was born in 1961. Wanda lived in Szczecin and Namyslow for several years, before moving with her daughter to Canada in 1976. She lived in Winnipeg for the remainder of her life.
Wanda made many lifelong friends working at Sterling Stall, Jacob-Crowley, Freed and Freed, and London Fog, and continued to create and fix garments for family and friends until the month prior to her passing. Wanda was so talented that she was commissioned to create a coat for Queen Elizabeth II, as a gift from the Province of Manitoba during the 1984 royal visit.
Wanda was an active member of her bowling league, Leisure Club, and the Polish Canadian Women's Federation Branch #7, and enjoyed her many friendships and travelling with family and friends. Even with all these interests, Wanda's daughter, granddaughter and great-grandsons were the greatest joys of her life, and she was unsparing in her support for them.
The family wishes to thank those who supported Wanda in her final weeks, particularly Irene Mendres, as well as the staff at Riverview Palliative Care.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street.

Wanda was a lovely lady. Very talented in her sewing skills. She hemmed my pants and also my drapes when I moved into our building . A very spiritual friend who shared with me her beliefs as I shared mine with her. Always with a smile on her face , even when she wasn't feeling so well. I'll miss you dear Wanda. Wanda, a friend, a lady with many talents but especially in sewing and recreating a garment according to specifications. Her work was appreciated by the Sokol Choir for whom she sewed and altered costumes on many occasions. Wanda worked with me on a number of my church projects for she understood what I and the Priests wanted. A number of my designer clothing was altered for me personally with great details. Wanda, our Sokol Choir, the church where you were very active and myself, thank you for your service and support over the years and we will miss you dearly. Those thanks we pass on to her daughter Bogusia, we will always remember Wanda❣️ With Love Bernadette - Posted by: Bernadette Gabriel (Friend ) on: Dec 14, 2024
