Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER J. ZASITKO
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our most beautiful and amazing Dad, Peter John Zasitko on December 21, 2024, at the age of 99 years.
Peter was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Elsie Zasitko who passed in July of 2024. Also, brothers Mike, Fred, Bill, Joe and sister Annette. Survived by his three daughters; Lisa Morhun (Chad), Kim Joseph (Derrick), Kelly Smith (Bob), along with grandchildren Mikaela, Toujana, Alyssa, Trent, Delanie and Colton. Great grandchildren; Hazel, Cooper and Taelyn and many nieces and nephews.
Peter grew up in Poplarfield, MB where he farmed with his family. The Zasitko farm was quite popular known for its' famous barn dances. Peter then married Elsie and started his family. They bought and ran the Poplarfield Transfer. Mom and Dad then purchased the Central Hotel in Russell, MB where they successfully operated it for the next 9 years. Wanting to be closer to family, they then purchased the St. James Hotel and moved to Winnipeg to run another successful business for the next 10 years.
Dad was proud of his accomplishments as a businessman. He was also the most amazing father and provider. Loving and kind, generous, honest and fair with a big heart always ready to help family and friends. We are so very proud to call you Dad.
Dad and Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. They travelled to many places including Ukraine and enjoyed many summers travelling and camping in their motor home. Peter and Elsie had the greatest love, which was celebrated for 70 years. They are truly an example of the meaning of love to all who knew them.
We love you Dad and will miss you so much. Thank you to St. Joseph's Residence for helping to care for Dad for the past 5 months. You made him feel welcome and safe.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends of St. Joseph's Residence. A celebration of Peter's life will be planned.

Our deepest condolences to Kelly, Kim, Lisa and families on the passing of Uncle Pete and earlier Aunt Elsie. Their hard work and dedication to family and friends earned this classy couple the respect and love of everyone. Years ago we were in Clear Lake with Patricia's family from Alberta. I gave Uncle Pete a call to ask if we could drop by for a visit on our drive back to Toronto. Our family of 4 was welcomed with open arms and were treated to their amazing hospitality. Always felt the love. Rest in peace. Ken and Patricia - Posted by: Ken Zasitko (Nephew) on: Dec 31, 2024

We have wonderful memories of visiting and partying with Pete and Else at all the dances in Poplarfield as well as at our wedding and the many times they would visit my Mom and Dad in Beausejour. They were so lovely, generous and kind, a very classy and beautiful couple who would dominate the dance floor and dance like nobody was watching. We always admired them and their beautiful daughters and grandchildren. Our deepest condolences, rest in peace dear Peter and Else.
