Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN LAPLANTE
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Brian Roland Laplante, who quietly passed away in his home on the morning of December 21, 2024, at the age of 62 due to complications from prolonged health issues.
Brian Laplante was born on April 20, 1962, in Winnipeg, MB to Shirley (nee Sumner) and Jean-Guy Laplante. Throughout his life Brian was well known for his work ethic, having worked diligently as a welder for over 40 years. To his family, Brian was better known as a devoted father, son, brother, and uncle who cherished time spent with loved ones. Much like his father, he was a 'jack of all trades', always ready to draw from his wealth of knowledge to those who asked. His perfectionism shone through in all he did, in both his work as well as his personal projects. While he came across as quiet and reserved to strangers, he was an outspoken and eager talker to those who knew and loved him best. He was also an avid sports fan, following each Bombers and Jets game closely.
He will be dearly missed by his mother Shirley; his youngest son Ian; his younger sisters, Arlene and Elisa (Dan) Touzin; his nieces and nephews, Shelly Joss, Cheryl (Trevor), Amber, Monique (Tyler) Skalozub, Brittany, Shay-Lynn, Chloe and Eric Touzin, Taylor and Kaleb Potipco, Jordaine, Lola Joss, Harlee-Quinn, and Tyson Skalozub; special aunties, Millie Gould and Christine McKenzie; cousins, Alfred (Cathy) Plantz, Seetta Roccola, Tillie (Jeff) Kuchta, Vera (Rob) Fielding, and Rocky Plantz; along with extended caring family members, of which there are too many to name.
Brian Laplante was predeceased by his father Jean-Guy Laplante; his oldest son Joseph Laplante; his oldest sister Carol-Ann Laplante; great-niece Natanis Potipco-Laplante; beloved aunties, Sarah Plantz, Ghislane Laplante, Irene Letandre, and Priscilla Thompson; as well as grandparents, Ralph and Louisa Sumner, along with Joseph and Elisa (nee Bouchard) Laplante.
We invite family and friends to Sanderson Funeral Home at 1336 Main St. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. for a memorial and prayers, with details on the funeral and interment services to follow.
The family would like to thank the first responders who met the family at his home the morning of his passing, and for the staff at St. Boniface Hospital who helped provide him with quality care prior to his passing.

Brian was a great person, funny and caring. Shared a lot of laughs, a lot of time talking about movies and stuff. He will be truly missed amongst his co-workers. Rest easy Brian - Posted by: Sandra Johnston (Friends ) on: Jan 03, 2025
