It is with considerable sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Hutniak on December 29, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Mary was born November 4, 1927, in Thalberg, Manitoba to loving parents Sophie and Wasyl Stilkowski. Mary lived most of her life in the Beausejour, Manitoba area, then moved to Winnipeg in 2008 where she lived until her passing.
Mary was predeceased by her husband John in 2005 and her beloved sons, Myron (1992) and Don (2017). She is survived by son David (Sandy), daughters-in-law, Bonny and Heather, grandchildren, Kristin, Jen, Jeff, Sara, Lisa, Karol and Tom, and great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Avery, Wesley, Lincoln, Liesl and Willa.
Mary was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She worked side by side with John on the family farm in Brokenhead, a place she loved for its vast spaces, tranquility, and the extensive gardens that she enjoyed caring for. Mary worked for several years at East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home after she and John sold the family farm and built a new home in Beausejour.
Mary entered Donwood Manor Personal Care Home in January 2020. We’d like to thank the staff for the care they provided throughout her time at Donwood, and especially for the compassion and professionalism they demonstrated during the final few days of her life.
A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held 11:00 a.m., July 5, 2025, at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour.
