MARY SUGDEN

August 18, 1937 - January 9, 2025

Peacefully, with family by her side on January 9, 2025, Mary passed away. Mary will be missed by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Janice and Brad Chalmers (Erin and Rich, Scott), Gwen and Todd Christensen (Jill and Tyrel, Jodie and Adam, Kari and Jarad, Ben), Karen Sugden/Bousquet and Daryl Takeuchi (Ryan and Alicia, Keith and Leanne, Amanda and Brett), Ron and Suzanne Sugden (Ronnie and Robyn, Roxanne and John, Paige, Nash), grandson Chris Rochon, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her daughter Debbie in 2007 and her husband Ron in 2017. Ron and Mary were married in 1954 and started a family early in their marriage. As a family they spent many summers at Grand Beach. Their social life consisted of playing cards, curling with the Rock Busters, and attending their children’s and grandchildren’s activities. They were very proud and supportive of all of them. Mom also enjoyed sewing for the family. Christmas dresses came down to the wire with hems being finished Christmas Eve. Mom also loved to cook. Family dinners every Sunday were extremely important to her as well as holiday dinners. Dinners involved a lot of preparation in advance with a full menu plus the extras; perogies, cabbage rolls and of course an assortment of homemade pies.

Once they became empty nesters, they got the travel bug. They travelled to Hawaii, Cuba, Florida, Texas, California and finally settling into a winter home in Arizona. They spent many enjoyable years in Arizona, making friends from across North America.

We would like to thank the staff of Meadowood Manor for their care and compassion.

Mary will be cremated and laid to rest beside her loving husband. A private family service will be held at a later date.
