SUZANNE HELENE MARIE PELLETIER

(nee LARIVIERE)

Suzanne died peacefully in her sleep at Action Marguerite Saint Boniface in the early hours of January 13th. She had dementia for the last four years of her life but lived with it as well as could be expected. Suzanne was born in Saint Boniface and was an extremely proud French Canadian. She was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Louis LaRivière; her brother, Jacques; the ‘love of her life’ Pierre and her daughter, Michèle. She leaves her children, Marc, Louise (Gord) and Robert as well as her grandchildren, Pier-Andrée (Nathan), Manon (Steve), Nathan, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Elise (Jay), Patrick (Alana), Erik and great-grandchildren Kai, Hailey, Carter, Alexcia, Annick, Maddison, Mateo and Milo.
Feisty! If you could only use one adjective to describe Suzanne that would be it. She was vocal, shared her opinions, liked to be busy and kept active throughout her life. Her favorite activity was swimming in the morning with her friends at Bonivital Pool. That was quite the loss for her when the dementia set in.
Suzanne and Pierre married in 1957 and she was enamored with him until the end. Even with the dementia, when shown a picture of Pierre she always responded with, ‘c’est mon mari; le plus beau de la famille’.
After her children were all in school Suzanne started working as a school secretary avoiding the ones her children attended. She loved her job and was well known for her work ethic and organizational skills.
In retirement, she enjoyed spending most of her time at their cottage in Beaconia, and getting away in winter to Mexico and Vancouver Island. She was the social convenor and kept their social life active for as long as she could. They had very good friends wherever they went and always welcomed them into their home. Suzanne was an awesome cook and passed on the love of good food and the ability to make it to her children. Pierre and Suzanne travelled throughout the US and Canada and to several countries overseas and her one regret was not doing it more often when they were able.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Action Marguerite Saint Boniface for their compassion and standard of care for Suzanne.
In memory of Suzanne, donations can be made to the Pelletier Flaten Family Fund at the Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 One Lombard Place, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X3. Tel. 204-944-9474, www.wpgfdn.org or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Our sincere condolences to the Pelletier and Flaten families. J'ai travaillée de nombreuses années avec Suzanne à l'école Lacerte où elle est devenue une très bonne amie. She will be missed but fondly remembered. - Posted by: Stella & Gerry Pineau (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2025

- Posted by: Lefcothea Doche (friend and colleague at Lacerte school) on: Jan 19, 2025

  • Condolences to Suzanne's family; she was a gem along with Pierre. They were a pillar of help and support in Grand Marais and at St Theresa church/Mission there. We had a wonderful time together! She will be organizing in her new found place. Rest in peace dear friend! Hugs, Jeanette 🥲👼❤️ - Posted by: Jeanette Cherlet (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2025
