Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJO-ANNE MARIE VIEVILLE
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jo-Anne Marie Vieville at the age of 62.
Jo-Anne is survived by her partner in life, Gerry Foubert, children, Danielle (Bryce Sexton), Christian (Lisa Grabowecky), and Brittney (Keeley Jeanson), along with grandchildren, Mia, Eastyn and Benson. She also leaves behind brothers and sisters, cousins, and aunts. She is predeceased by both parents, father Fernand Horace Vieville, and mother Marie-Reine Yvonne Vieville (Kirouac).
Jo-Anne was a strong, compassionate and caring person. It was evident at an early age she would pursue a career in healthcare. Jo-Anne went on to spend almost 32 years as a registered nurse in the province of Manitoba working in both acute and long-term care. Due to illness, Jo-Anne retired from healthcare sooner than she would have liked. However, she never gave up on being a caregiver. Jo-Anne often cared for her grandchildren, who loved their Mimi dearly, and her mother, Marie-Reine, until her recent passing only 12 days prior to her own.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
A special thank you to Gisèle Kolodka and Céline Aston for their unwavering support leading up to and following Jo-Anne’s passing.
The family would also like to send their gratitude to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit, who cared for Jo-Anne until her passing, and the numerous doctors and specialists that took part in her care over the years.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Joanne’s strength of spirit and her good humor was remarkable. Sadly, we did not spend a great deal of time together (growing up in different provinces), but when we did get together her infectious smile and humor brought joy to all of us. Her strength is an inspiration – she didn’t dwell on what was but rather lived, loved and cherished every moment. She will be very sadly missed. Our condolences to all of you. - Posted by: Rachelle Stewart (Cousin) on: Feb 06, 2025

Dear Gerry, Danielle, Christian and all of your families. Heartfelt Condolences. So sorry for the loss of Jo-Anne. Special memory, July 2019 Jo-Anne and I ended up on the same plane to Las Vegas! Jo-Anne’s seat was right behind my seat. I stood up to talk to my co-workers and Jo-Anne and I locked eyes we both screamed with excitement! The gentleman next to me asked Jo-Anne to take his seat. We had a blast together on that flight! We met for dinner at (Mon Ami Gabi) It was an evening of laughter and beautiful sitting on the patio right across from the Bellagio water fountains. Jo-Anne is a special bright star. She will be dearly missed by all. RIP Jo-Anne until we meet again. Love you. - Posted by: Melony Biedler (Jr High School Friend) on: Feb 05, 2025

Anyone that knew her, worked with her, or even better, was close to her obviously felt the beautiful person & spirit that she was. And even through her last years of struggling with her health battles, she was still showing off that beautiful smile and sharing her sincere spirit I wish I could have spent more time with Jo-Anne through my life. My condolences go out to the family and Jo-Anne’s circle of friends and supporters. I worked with Jo-Anne at the VGH ER as well. I always admired her confidence and expertise and her quick wit. In the latter years while she struggled with the health issues life threw at her, I was especially impressed by her strength, determination and fierce independence. She’s one of the bravest women I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. - Posted by: lois isfjord (verfaillie) (coworker and friend) on: Feb 01, 2025

I worked with Jo-Anne at the VGHER. I was a newer nurse and she quickly took me under her wing. She taught me to be a strong and fearless nurse and to put the people you care for first. She was a good friend to me also. One memory I have is this beautiful dinner she delivered to my home during a time I was struggling with an illness. She was so caring and thoughtful. My deepest Condolences to all the family. Xoxo. - Posted by: Victoria Marek (Co worker and friend) on: Feb 01, 2025
