It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Doris Winnifred in her 94th year. Doris predeceased by her husband of 66 years Arthur Robert "Bob", parents Jack and Grace, her sisters Lillian, Elsie, and Dolly. Survived by children Dave (Sherry), Lindsay (Harry) and Derek. Cherished Grandma to Meghan (Justin), Steven (Shannon), Jonathan (Summer), Brett (Cailen), Cameron (Predeceased) and Great-grandma to Joey.
Doris was born and educated in Winnipeg and in 1956 moved to Vancouver where she was employed by the CPR. It was there she met Bob, and they were married May 10, 1958. Bob's employment took them to many different cities across Canada. Montreal (twice), Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto. Where Burlington became the last stop, and in which many good friends were made.
Doris was a long-time member of Appleby United Church and active in the church's U.C.W. for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Grad's Newcomer Club and the Probus Club.
Doris enjoyed all sports, curling/ cross-country skiing/ canoeing and especially golf, which she continued to play well into her 80's.
On Bob's retirement, he and Doris enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren, with much time spent at the cottage on Otter Lake, near Parry Sound. They travelled extensively throughout Europe and in the U.S. on many much-enjoyed golf vacations.
Cremation and a private ceremony with family has taken place. If desired, donations can be made to Doris's favourite charity, the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
