It is with sadness to announce the passing of Alda Lind Wingfield (nee Halldorsson) on March 9, 2025. She was with her boys when she passed peacefully at the River East Personal Care Home in Winnipeg.
Alda was predeceased by her mother Sigurlin, father Siggi, sister Margaret, and husband Ian. She leaves behind sons, Chris and spouse Tara, Geoff and spouse Teresa, grandchildren, Madelaine, Mitchell, and London, along with many other friends and family.
Alda was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba June 26, 1945, at the Health Sciences Centre. Her childhood and formative years home was on Greene Avenue in East Kildonan and she graduated from Miles Macdonell Collegiate.
Other than her family, Alda's passion was her music and her faith. She was an active member of the John Black United Church and church choir to parlay both of her passions. She was an incredibly gifted soprano who won many awards and competitions and also auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Alda was a Stay at Home mom for the first years until her boys were able to be by themselves. She went to work at Hastings Hearing Centre for several years with famous clientele such as Winnipeg Jets enforcer Jim Kyte.
Alda will be missed by anyone who ever experienced her kindness or her smile. Extra special thanks to all of the staff at the River East Personal Care Home for their care and understanding. You helped make a difficult experience a little easier.
Celebration of Life service will be held at John Black United Church, 898 Henderson Highway, Friday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alda's name to John Black United Church.

I was a homemaker for her. We shared many a laugh and chatted about crafts. A year ago, Alda attempted knitting and I helped pick up lost stitches. She loved John Black United Church.. To the family, so sorry for your loss. Mary - Posted by: Mary (Worker) on: Mar 28, 2025

Alda was a long time good friend since junior high school. There was always a welcome open door at her parents home. Her Mother made the best cup of coffee, the Icelandic way and a great egg salad sandwich. Many happy memories of listening to Elvis over coffee at her Mother's kitchen table We will miss her.
