Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, Kathleen (Kay), passed away peacefully at the age of 102.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, James (Yasuko) and Catherine, grandchildren, Noel (Aimee), Keith, Lauren (Dennis) and Gwen (Shane) and great-grandchildren, Birdie, Finnegan and Sora. Kay was predeceased by her husband Morton and her son Scott, father of four more grandchildren - Ryan, Katlin, Leah and Brendan.
Kathleen was born and grew up in Miniota, MB along with her two sisters and two brothers. Through stories and photos we know it was a childhood of fun and adventure. Later she moved to Winnipeg and graduated as an RN in 1945. Soon after she married. She was a hardworking nurse and later in her career took courses which enabled her to move up to a position as Director of Nursing at the Health Sciences Centre. Her children have fond memories of spending time in the summer at Victoria Beach with their Mom and Dad. Kay was an avid curler and golfer at the Wildewood Club as well as participating in a variety of entertaining social events there. In later life she took many enjoyable trips and cruises with friends and family to several different countries which included both sightseeing and golf. She was also an active member of the Fort Garry United Church.
Kathleen lived a full life. We will all miss this kind and gentle soul.
As per Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

I am a friend of Cathy’s from high school and I met Kay whenever Cathy invited me over for lunches. I admired how Kay kept the household and 3 kids moving while she also worked full time (nights if I remember correctly) and golfed and travelled. A very full life. She was a lovely woman. - Posted by: Marcia Bryson (Family friend) on: Mar 23, 2025
