Phyllis passed peacefully in the presence of her daughters. After dancing through life, she lost her battle to cancer after a three-year fight.
Phyllis and Ted worked side by side at a lab at the University of Manitoba where their love began. From that day forward, they walked through life hand in hand, enjoying weekends at the cottage, taking opportunities to travel, and building a family. A natural educator, Phyllis spent her career as an elementary school teacher and principal. In retirement, clogging became her passion. Her enthusiasm spilled over into her daughters’ lives as they became a part of the Sundance Cloggers, and her husband became her square dance partner. Her family was her true passion. Grandmom adored her grandchildren, and together with Ted, spent as much time as possible with them. Her quirky sense of humour and laughter were contagious, and a source of enjoyment for everyone.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Ted, daughters Tanis (Howard) and Janelle (Tom), and grandchildren Janessa (Lourens), Kyla (Brent), Brennan (Hannah), Mylo, Chloe, and Nash, sister Bev, brother-in-law Bruce, sister-in-law Ruth, as well as extended family and friends.
Our deepest gratitude for the compassionate and attentive care from the palliative care team and Riverview Health Centre. Their loving staff members gracefully carried Phyllis through her final days.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. There will be a live stream available for those who cannot attend in person.
For those who wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Phyllis’ memory.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Phyllis' passing. She was such a great lady, and I'm so very thankful that she got my mom into Clogging who then got me into it. Phyllis was so kind to give me some crash courses as well to help me catch up to the class. I apologize but I'm not able to make the service on Friday, but am sending my deepest sympathies, and prayers of comfort to her whole family. - Posted by: Darolyn Pchajek (Friend) on: Mar 19, 2025
