Jack was born in Montreal, Quebec to John Blackwood Russell and Isabella Wright Thornton. He was the first of eight children.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Ellen, his sisters, Betty Quinn (Bill), Marion and her husband Alec Quinn and Joan Kirby. He is survived by his sisters, Beverley Dunne (Gerry), Janet Hinkle (Ron) and his brother Jim (Lois).
He is also survived by five children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Vista Park Lodge for the wonderful care and attention they provided our brother.
We know Jack is reunited with his family and they are singing their favourite Scottish and Irish songs.
