It is with sadness but peace of mind that I announce the passing of Arnold Louis Schryvers of Niverville, MB on March 26, 2025, at the age of 76. He died peacefully at home after a brief illness.
Arnold is survived by Orpha, his wife of 45 years, three brothers and one sister, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law and their children and grandchildren, as well as several cousins in the Netherlands.
Arnold faced many challenges in his life, living with a spinal cord injury, and he tackled them head on. He was an inspiration to all who met him.
As per Arnold’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, but Orpha invites family, friends and neighbours to a Celebration of Arnold’s life on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Niverville Heritage Centre, 100C Heritage Trail, Event Centre Entrance.
If you so wish, donations may be made to Spinal Cord Injury Manitoba, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5.

Orpha, I was saddened to read of Arnie's passing. I know you will miss him very much, but hope you will find comfort in the treasure trove of memories from your life together. I have been recalling all the wonderful times we shared since meeting Arnie and you in Mazatlan, Mexico all those decades ago -- the lively dinner parties, the boating excursions on Lake of the Woods, the telling of life's experiences over cocktail hour. So many happy times! Arnie was an inspiration to all, a man who made a difference in so many people's lives through his work, in his volunteer roles and, of course, in his personal life. His intellect, his tenacity, his kindness and empathy made that possible. In short, Arnie made the world a better place. He will be remembered fondly. - Posted by: Laurie Nealin (friends) on: Apr 11, 2025

I met Arnie and his artist Mother in Saskatoon in 1968 when I was working at the University Hospital and Arnie was trail-blazing in all aspects of life living with a spinal cord injury. He was one of the first persons to have a thoroughly equipped and adapted van with hand controls and lift. He updated everyone in all new technologies as they were developing during those days. Arnie was an inspiration to me and many other people with spinal cord injuries. He was a gentle man with strong opinions and solid advice. Very personable with good humour. When we both moved to Winnipeg, I had the privilege of working alongside Arnie as well as introducing him to my family. My condolences to the family. May Arnie rest in peace for all eternity.
