After an extended illness, Rene passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 in Bethesda Regional Health Centre.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg, MB.

Rene was my best friend and uncle Duck Hunter, 1st week of the season. The best story I can think of is when my son Maurice turned 16 and got his first Duck Hunting license. We went to Hubble Siding slew, Maurice at the North end ( with 2 boxes of shells), me in the middle and Rene at the South end. Well bang bang bang, bang bang bang, on and on. Rene came back and ask how many ducks did you get, I said none, didn't fire a shot yet so we both headed North to where Maurice was standing in a pile of empty shells. Rene says to Maurice where's all the ducks? Maurice says didn't get any yet, Dad I'm almost out of Ammo. I laughted and Rene says I'm glad you think it's funny, your paying for them... You better give him some more, Rene's smile could have lite a pitch black room! Yes, we found somebody who was a worst shot than Rene.
