DENNIS FREDERICK OVERALL

April 2, 1947 – April 2, 2025

Sadly, after an extended battle with cancer, Denny passed away peacefully at Selkirk Regional Health Center with his beloved Lin by his side.

Dennis leaves behind his wife and best friend Lin, daughter Melanie (Ryan), stepson Michael, granddaughters Selah, Evelyn and grandson Caleb. Also surviving him is “big sister” Judith and her family.

Dennis grew up in the St. James area. He began his work career at Manitoba Hydro for eight years. He then joined the Winnipeg Police Service in July 1976 where he served until retiring as a Police Constable in April 2005.

He was an avid wood carver, book reader, movie buff, and enjoyed having pets by his side.

Dennis was a diehard sports fan. His favourite teams were the Boston Bruins and LA Rams. He also supported and enjoyed watching the Blue Bombers and Jets.

There are a few people Dennis and his wife wanted to acknowledge for their support during his struggle.

Darryl, thank you for not only being a great friend to us, but also for your emotional support, even from Vegas!

Bootsy, what would we have done without you? Thank you for being our chauffeur for all the medical trips.

Glen, what a neighbour to have; thank you for helping any time of day or night when called and for keeping Denny company.

Immense gratitude to Christine and the staff at Selkirk Rexall, Lin’s work place. You’ve all been so compassionate and caring during this time, juggling shifts so Lin could be with Dennis.

Additional thanks to Dr. Paige at Kildonan Medical Center who cared for him over the years.

To the nurses at Selkirk Home Care, thank you for your patience and kindness in those weekly Sunday visits.

Additional thanks to the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, specifically in the ER as well as the nurses, nurse’s aides and doctors on Wards 3 and 4. Thank you for showing the compassion you did, regardless of how busy you were.

As per Dennis’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Manitoba ALL Shepherd Rescue – treasurermasr@gmail.com in his memory and our beloved Bella.
