SHARON LEE RANGER

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our mother, Sharon Lee Ranger on April 6, 2025 at the age of 81. Sharon was born on April 9, 1943 in North Battleford, SK.

Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Lena and Harry Webb, and her loving husband of 56 years, Harvey. She leaves behind her children, David (Christine), Douglas (Kim), her beloved grandsons, Joshua and Jordan, sisters-in-law, Sharon (Fred), Brenda (Deo), Debbie (Eddie) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She left her family home in 1961 to attend school in Edmonton, where she acquired her Medical Technologist Diploma. She gracefully set her career aside so she could take time to raise her family. Sharon, Harvey and the boys moved many times before settling into their home in Winnipeg. Together they built a family cottage in Lac du Bonnet where they got to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and pontoon boat rides.

Sharon loved to bake, sew, knit, golf and spoil her family with delicious meals and baking. Over the last number of years, she volunteered her time sewing and knitting blankets for the Humane Society and baby clothes for the hospital maternity wards.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker, 505 Brewster Street, Winnipeg. Interment to take place at Glen Lawn Cemetery.

We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at Devonshire House. They made her feel so welcome in her very short stay there.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Black Bear Rescue Manitoba or Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Condolences to the family of my cousin Sharon. We are saddened by your loss. Whenever Sharon and I got together, we talked about the good times especially the time our families spent a memorable week together at Cochin Beach in northern Saskatchewan. One time in particular stands out. I took the lead in finding fun things to do. Sharon, my sister and I thought it would be fun to run down a grassy slope of a high hill back of the lake. Sharon and I decided to take a run for it, and my sister instead opted to take a casual walk down. I soon learned my first lesson in the power of gravity. Sharon and I started with slow strides which turned into an uncontrolled roll. At the bottom of the hill, Sharon and I were covered with bruises, scratches and cactus spurs, and my sister walked away unscathed. Oh, the memories of fun times. - Posted by: Larry Wiens (Cousin) on: Apr 15, 2025

  • Our deepest sympathies go out to Sharon’s family. We were first cousins (our mother’s were sisters). We saw quite a bit of Sharon and Harvey, when they lived in Regina and for a short time Sharon stayed with my mom and dad in Regina. I recall some exciting games of pool in my parents basement. Unfortunately the last time I saw them was at my mom’s funeral over 10 years ago. So sorry for your loss, sincerely Randy and Lorraine Manz - Posted by: Randy Manz (Cousin) on: Apr 14, 2025

  • David and Doug I send you my sincerest Condolences on the loss of your beautiful mother. I have so many special memories of her and your dad with my parents over the years and they are all now reunited in heaven. One story that was told repeatedly was I believe about your birth David. Long story short, your mom went into labor and couldn’t get a hold of your dad or anyone else so she called my mom who dropped everything to get your mom to the hospital. It’s stories like this that made our moms so special and I am so glad that they remained in each others lives until the end. - Posted by: Kerri-Lynn Stewart (Neighbour) on: Apr 12, 2025
