JOSEPH (HENRI) LORENZO COURCHAINE

February 5, 1939 - April 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving father. Joseph passed peacefully at Health Sciences Centre (HSC) with family at his side. He leaves to mourn his children, Angele (Scott), Louise (Adam), Eugene (Marleen), Diane, Charles and Carter, along with his Grandchildren, Christopher (Lindsay), Joshua (Gloria), Breena, Keenan, Jacob, Charlyse, Micaylee and Teaghyn. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Cecile, Sally, Richard, Toni, their partners, and numerous other family and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife Hélène and siblings, Lionel, Oscar, Denis, Terry, and Florence.
Joseph had a rich life. He was a jack of all trades. He was a carpenter, gas fitter and a counselor who helped people with addictions. He was a respected Metis elder who contributed in many ways to his community. Joseph loved his scooter and riding to McDonalds on the daily to meet up with his crew. Everyone knew to watch for the baby blue helmet and the old man flying around St. Boniface. He will be remembered for his warm heartedness, sense of humour and his Joie de Vivre. He was very kind and generous and helped anyone who asked. His passing leaves a hole in our lives, and we will carry him in our hearts always.
The family would like to gratefully thank the nurses and doctors at HSC for their compassion and care. As per his wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
