I always admired David. He was endlessly kind to me and the kids, and he thought the world of William — calling him his “bonny-boy” and making a point to come over and greet him whenever we were outside. He patiently taught Sean about every tree in our yard: how to protect them from illness, how to tell the good from the troublesome, and even encouraged him — gently — to stop nurturing the weeds! It makes me smile just thinking of it. I always loved seeing him wave from his garden. And there was something quietly profound in the way he would place his hands on the trees as he spoke to them — like he was part of some deeper conversation with the earth. He was such a thoughtful, sensitive, and brilliant soul. He will be deeply missed. Love, Tonya - Posted by: Tonya Gray (Next door neighbour) on: May 12, 2025

David Punter was a professor, mentor and friend to me as a young graduate student. His humor, warmth, and incredible scope of knowledge had a strong influence on me. He lived a full life, and will be missed by many. - Posted by: Anthony Hopkin (Student/ friend) on: May 04, 2025
