SUZZANN EDITH ANDERSON WRIGHT

On Monday, April 28, 2025, at home with her husband Bill Wright by her side, Suzzann Edith Anderson Wright passed away from cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, amma, aunt, sister and daughter and friend to so many. Mom to Shantih, Katy (Jamie Innes) and Kirsten (Johnny Johnson) she was also the world's best Amma to Anastasia, James Magnus and Grace.

Born August 1, 1958, to Magnus and Marjory Anderson (née Cheyne), she grew up on a farm outside Riverton, Manitoba and cherished the many memories made with her brothers, Doug (Val), Tim (Wanda) and Stewart (Pam). Mom's life in Riverton was made richer by her many beloved aunts, uncles and so many cousins that family reunions divvied people up by colour-coded t-shirts. Family always came first - as an active parent in our school communities as kids, conversations in the small kitchen on Iris Street as she prepped dinners, babysitting grandkids and being their biggest cheerleader, walking our family pup Shadow or doting on any of ours, or supporting us all through our life events big and small. Despite 45 plus years living in Ottawa, she maintained close connections to her extended family - from coast to coast, in Iceland and Scotland - as well as all her Riverton connections; but most importantly her beloved lifelong BFFs, Kathy Marks and Lynne Erickson.

A dedicated wife, mom and dad always enjoyed their own hobbies and passions in life but there was always a kiss when the other arrived home whether a regular day at work or mom had been home for a visit. Skipping a honeymoon after their marriage in 1980, mom and dad took many trips in the last two decades that mom meticulously planned and greatly enjoyed. She was an excellent cook and sometime baker, a dedicated friend and colleague, an accomplished calligrapher, a conscientious teacher and instructor, and a willing tour guide when people came to visit. For us, her family, she was our centre and compass in this world and despite urging us not to be sad over these last months, we will forever miss her smile, her gentle nudging in the right direction and her constant, loving presence in our lives.

She would have found it unnecessary, but would have been touched if you chose to honour her memory with a small donation in memoriam to either the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre or for Uterine Cancer Research via the Canadian Cancer Society.

A funeral will be held at a later date in Riverton, Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Suzanne & I were roommates in Winnipeg. Back in the late ‘70s when we were to 2 crazy & wild girls working as waitresses. I got to meet her family spent time at her parents farm My I son John spend a whole spring break hanging with Suzanne’s family helping with birthing calves I believe he was 8.. what a trip for him. Suzanne lived with me till she moved to Ottawa. We did see each other over the years but as life gets in the way.. she was a great friend & we laughed a lot.. I am so very sorry for her family to have lost her so soon she’s on her own journey now . We will all miss her smile Therese (Terri) Verne - Posted by: Therese verne (Friend) on: May 11, 2025

  • This breaks our hearts. Friends always, and on the rare occasion Sue would drop in at our boat in Gimli, we would enjoy each other's company. Because of time and distance, visits were less frequent than they should have been. We will miss you. - Posted by: Barry and Marlene Prokopetz ("Cousin") on: May 10, 2025
