ALBERT ARCHIE ROY

March 1, 1924 - May 8, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family announces his peaceful passing at the age of 101.

Albert leaves behind his loving wife of 75 years, Lucille (Tillie); five children: Marlene (Marshall), Bryan (Lynn), Jackie, Daniel (Tannis), Roger (Susan); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was a very proud and distinguished Second World War veteran and served from 1943 to 1946 and fought in the battle of Normandy. He was so honoured to have served his country and his greatest treasure was his family.

After returning home from the war he opened his own gas station and had many jobs driving truck and a trolley bus driver. He then went on to a successful career with the federal government.

Upon retiring Al and Tillie travelled, spent winters in Palm Springs and summers at Granite Lake. He was also an avid gardener and wood carver.

Our many thanks go out to the Doctor and staff at Actionmarguerite (Foyer Valade).

A service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on May 17 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Condolences to the Roy family. Big Al was the last of a legacy of fathers who were raised during the depression, fought in a just war and raised children during a flower power generation. A man of great resilience, and poignant advice. - Posted by: Kelly Langevin (Friend) on: May 17, 2025

  • My sincere condolences to Dan and Roger and family on the passing of your father/grandfather. Dan told me of his trip with his dad to France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the second world war. There is just no doubt what remarkable man he was.
