LIONEL NICHOLAS BARYLUK

July 26, 1935 – May 7, 2025

Lionel grew up in the North End of Winnipeg where he met the love of his life, Joan. After starting their family in the North End, they eventually moved to the North Kildonan area of Winnipeg.

Lionel worked his entire life at CN Rail as a locomotive engineer until his retirement in 1995.

He loved the lake areas where he and Joan for years had a cottage in Chalet Beach. Together they loved to entertain all their family and friends on the summer weekends. Lionel purely enjoyed rifle and pistol competitions and participated in these competitions as often as possible.

For years, Lionel participated in the local Boxing community as a trainer, referee and judge, helping mentor the young kids and develop their skills in the sport.

He was predeceased by his wife Joan and child Liza, as well as his parents, Joan and Nicholas, brothers, John, Bill, Andrew and sister Teresa.

Lionel will be missed by his children, Kimberly, Tracy (Sean), Nick and Tina. His granddaughter Stephanie and great-grandson Elias. Lionel also leaves behind numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families including Elsie, Darlene and Patricia, as well as lifelong friends, including Darren and Laurie.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
