DENISE YVETTE LANDER

(nee DUMAINE)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Denise Marie Yvette Lander on May 7, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Denise passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the age of 77 years.

Denise was a cherished mother, sister, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering support for those around her. One of her proudest roles was as a foster mother, where she opened her heart and home to many, providing a safe and nurturing environment. She was a constant source of encouragement and strength to her family and friends, always ready with a listening ear and a helping hand.

Denise had a zest for life and a love for travel. With the love of her life Vern, they explored so many places. She enjoyed exploring new places and creating these lasting memories. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense happiness to her life.

Left to mourn her passing are her brothers and sisters, Doris (Dennis) Ray(Joanne) Jules ( Ginny) Charles, Diane, John, Della(Renald )daughter Carole (Jarrod), stepsons Robert and Michael, stepdaughter Renee, her foster children Angelena (Dave), Wendy (Kevin), Greg (Kaity), Loretta (Corey), Samantha (Jennifer), Valerie, Ashley, Agnes, Terry, Natasha, Sunshine, Sunflower, Dom, Des and Jas. grandchildren Nina, Shawn, Brittany, Cameron, Riley, Mackenzie, Reine, Coralee, Lejla, Rosie, Kiara, Brayden, Aurora, Breeann, Vernon, Myles & Denise, Blaze, Damien & Xavier and many great grandchildren. Denise was predeceased by her loving husband Vern Lander, daughter Donna Gentes, her parents Amie Dumaine & Laurence Cournoyer, grandson Cory Gentes, brothers Roger, Valere, Paul and Ernie, sister Dolores, Little Della, and brother-in-law Tom.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Denise's life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday May 31, 2025 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I met Denise in the late 80's when she became a foster parent. I found her to be a caring compassionate person and as those who knew her have said, she was always reading to lend a helping hand, a listening ear or whatever she could do to help others. I want to thank her for how she encouraged all her foster kids to never give up and to be the best they could be in all they did. Those she fostered, once a part of Denise's life were always a part of it and their extended family benefitted from that relationship as well. Denise, you will be missed by all who knew you but especially by all your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as the rest of your family. To the family, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers and that Denise is no longer suffering but sharing times with those gone before her. Though she is no longer physically with you, she will always be in your hearts and memories. Rest in Peace Denise, or dance untill we all see you again. - Posted by: Wendy Phillips (friend) on: May 17, 2025
