Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. AUDOMARO ESQUIVEL
In the early morning hours of May 14, 2025, with his family by his side, Dad quietly passed away at the age of 89. Dad leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years Dorothy (Ball), his three children; Ric (Tannis), Craig (Teresa) and Suzanne (Jason) and his grandchildren; Tyler (Lauren), Natasha (Brody), Daniela (Richard), Craig (Becca), Victoria (Tyrell), and Ned as well as his great grandchild Kade and a second great grandchild due in August, his sister Santa Esquivel and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Isauro and Guadalupe and his brothers Isauro and Ricardo, and in-laws Richard and Dorothy Ball.
Family was the most important thing to him. His life’s work as a pediatrician touched thousands of families and children across Manitoba. We shall miss his smile, his laugh, his advice, and his elaborate birdhouses.
We would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Victoria Hospital who helped us get Dad home. To the Staff at the Courtyards at Linden Pointe, your care is truly amazing and will never be forgotten.
As per Audomaro’s wishes, a formal funeral service will not be held.
In lieu of flowers and cards consider making a donation to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Winnipeg, in our Dad’s name.

Dr. Esquivel was a wonderful pediatrician. Although I worked on a surgical unit, he always came to see his patients, even though they were being treated by surgeons. I was so impressed with Dr. Esquivel, that I always chose him when a pediatric consult was needed for a patient who did not have a pediatrician. When I had children, Dr. Esquivel became their doctor and he was so good with kids. He understood their needs and was always caring and calm with them. I was so fortunate that my children had Dr. Esquivel as their pediatrician. My deepest condolences to his family on the passing of a wonderful human being. - Posted by: Valerie Blank (co-worker at Childrens Hospital) on: Jun 20, 2025

Dr. Esquivel or as I knew him when I was a kid Dr. Poncho (never was sure where that name came from) Dr E knew my Mom when she was 1 years old and dealing with what then was a rare type of cancer. He then became my pediatrician...he was an amazing man he saved my life more then once. He saved the red suckers for me because they were my fave. He then became my eldest daughters Dr. It was a full circle moment. He made such a huge impact on my life. It was full of dysfunction and he always made sure I was okay. There truly will never be another like him...he is special, I'm so glad to have known him. - Posted by: Krystal (Patient) on: May 29, 2025

Sad to learn of the passing of Dr. Esquivel. My sincere condolences to Dorothy and family.I have so many fond memories of working with him at Richmond West Clinic. Every day was pleasure to go to work. He was a great teacher, wonderful with his patients, and of course had an special sense of humour. I will treasure the wood pieces he made for me as well as the toast tongs made out of tongue depressors! There will be a special place for him in the “beyond”.❤️💐 - Posted by: Betty Grant (Coworker) on: May 28, 2025

I read about Dr. Esquivel’s passing this weekend. While it has been many, many years since seeing him, I remember well from my childhood the wonderful and caring foursome - Drs Briggs, Christie, Esquivel and Sachdeva on the 6th floor of the Winnipeg Clinic. My dad, Keith, often spoke glowingly of his colleagues and the wonderful partnership they had, taking care of countless thousands of Winnipeg children over the years. May your families cherish your memories of him. I know he was a tremendous doctor. He sounds like an even more wonderful husband and dad. With warmest regards, Mark Christie - Posted by: Mark Christie (Family friend) on: May 25, 2025

We are saddened to learn of the passing of the most wonderful and caring pediatrician. Our sincere condolences to Dr Esquivel’s entire family. I met with him in 1971, when I was pregnant with our first child, wanting to get to know the doctor who would care for my children. I understood instantly that my children would be so blessed to be in Dr Esquivel’s care. We all loved this dedicated doctor and special soul. (And as my 54 year old son just reminded me - no more post appointment lollipops!) Thinking of all of you! It was a pleasure having Audi as a colleague Pediatrician at the Winnipeg Clinic for close to 30 years. He was an excellent Pediatrician and his patients adored him.He had an excellent sense of humor. When he accidentally chopped off his finger while doing some wood work his explanation was that he had shown the finger to another driver on the road.He was a popular teacher at the children’s hospital.May he rest in peace.Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva - Posted by: Dr.Ramesh Sachdeva (Friend,Colleague) on: May 24, 2025

I remember how amazing he was when he was my paediatrician. I was never afraid to go to the doctors as long as he was the doctor I was seeing. He had a way with us to make us feel safe and I trusted him with all my heart. I still have memories of his calm and gentle nature. He was truly one of the good ones who cared about his patients. A true passion for helping others. I am so sorry for your loss and I am sure he will be greatly missed. Best doctor ever. - Posted by: Robin McCartney (Patient) on: May 24, 2025
