JOSEPH DUBANSKI

On May 10, 2025, in his 95th year, Joe passed away and is now with our Lord.

Joe was born in the north end of Winnipeg to parents Adolf and Katherine. In his youth he was active in the Catholic church as an altar boy. He also became an accomplished accordion player even playing in bands in his early years in Winnipeg. He married Bernice (Purcha) in 1956, and they welcomed their 3 children Teresa, John and Gerry.

Joe worked for the CNR his entire career and in the 1960’s accepted promotions that took the family to Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal and Thunder Bay, before returning to Winnipeg in 1971. The family settled in Fort Richmond, where he remained for the next 45 years. Joe became involved with his church as a lay minister for many years. He enjoyed working on his cars and in later years after retirement, became an avid bike rider, biking into his 91st year.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, his brother John, his son John, sister-in-law Stanis and his wife of 52 years, Bernice. Joe leaves behind his daughter Teresa (Terry), granddaughter Stephanie (Bruce), grandson Jordan (Jade) and great-grandchildren Gunnar and Finn; son Gerry (Kari) and grandchildren Spencer and Sydney; brother-in-law Ernie (Mary) and nephews Greg, Kevin and Andrew and their families.

A family funeral has taken place. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Fort Garry Catholic cemetery or Harvest Manitoba.
