CARALEE BARBARA DOERKSEN

(nee STRONG)

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, after a mighty year-long battle with cancer, Caralee Barbara Doerksen (nee Strong), passed away at her home with her family at her side. She was 57 years old.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 28 years, Glenn Doerksen, and her three surviving children, Connor, Paige, and Chad. She was predeceased by her daughter Sophie. Caralee is also survived and will be greatly missed by her parents, Robert and Barbara Strong, her four siblings, Karin Harper (Jim), Kevin Strong (Tina), Kirsten Quiring (Montana), and Keith Strong (Carla), and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Caralee was a beautiful, brilliant, eloquent, inspiring, funny, and courageous woman who uplifted all who knew her. We rejoice in her life and give thanks for the time we had together.

Caralee was born in Brandon, Manitoba and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She got her Psychology degree from University of Manitoba, and on July 5, 1997, married Glenn Doerksen, also of Winnipeg. In 2005, the Doerksen family resettled in Lakeville, Minnesota.

Caralee had many interests and abilities, including cooking, music, art, fashion, writing, and travel. Her passion was undoubtedly literature, often reading more than 100 books a year.

Her greatest happiness and finest accomplishments in life were as a mother to her wonderful children. Caralee shared their joys and pains, boosted them when they were down, and challenged them to grow, instilling values of compassion, critical thinking, and resilience.

A private Celebration of Life has been scheduled.

  • I’m so sorry to hear of Caralee’s passing. We belonged to an online group of women who were pregnant with babies being born Sept. 98.
