GORDON (GORD) JAMES KERR
Farewell to our beloved brother, uncle, and great friend.
Gord died suddenly at home. Left to mourn are sisters Sharon Finnen and Doreen Kerr, niece Holly Finnen (Dan Stewart), nephew Jim Finnen (Kim), great niece Jordan Finnen and great nephew Kaelen Finnen.
Gord was predeceased by our parents Jim and Irene Kerr, and brother-in-law Robb Finnen.
Gord was born and raised in Winnipeg. Shortly after high school he began his lifelong career in the trucking industry, soon after that graduating to semi trailers with Esau Brothers, then Paul’s Hauling. In this career he travelled the country from coast to coast, sharing stories of his travels with family – some fairly hair raising just to shock his mom. Gord’s co-workers referred to him as a gruff exterior hiding a teddy bear.
As a teenager Gord fell in love with motorcycles, specifically Harley Davidsons. His dad fully approved as Dad had ridden Harleys as a young man as well. Gord made many trips to the rallies in Sturgis, South Dakota, with one of his favourite places to ride being the Black Hills. He loved few things more than riding his Harley with friends.
The service for Gordon will be Monday, July 21 at 2:00 pm at Glen Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

My sincere condolences to Gord’s family. I worked with Gord at Paul’s Hauling for many years. He was a unique character and such a warm person although he never wanted to let anyone see that side of him. A couple of memories come to mind. At the Driver of the Year at St. Charles country club, we ran into him in the coatroom with a tie in his hands that he did not know how to tie and just needed a little help. Of course the suit and tie was not anywhere in his comfort zone. Another one was when we got talking about Lynyrd Skynyrd one day and he was surprised that I also liked their music. A couple of days later, he showed up with a cd for me with the songs that we were talking about. I still have it and I have always treasured it and that he had given it to me. Of course helping him with the computers were always good times. It was heartbreaking to hear of his passing. Rest in peace my friend. RIP Gord. My condolences to Sharon and Doreen and families. I met Gord way back in the day when he was my girlfriend’s annoying little brother. He turned into a fine man and loving brother. You’re missed Gord. - Posted by: Karmin (Neighbour) on: Jul 19, 2025

So sorry to hear of Gord’s passing. I grew up with Gord in Fort Garry. Gord always played it tough but he was actually so kind. I remember one “hair raising “ ride on the back of his old Triumph motorcycle. - Posted by: Wes Brisson (Childhood Friend) on: Jul 18, 2025

First I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to Gord's family. I have many fond memories of Gord. We dated for many years before I moved back to Calgary and remained good friends. We shared many bike rides and had a blast!! The tides for sight were my favourite. Lots of laughs and many beers. Trying to find our tent was always an adventure after a night of laughs with our friends. Sleep well my love I’ll miss you !! You will remain in my heart and thoughts 💔💔💔😢😢😢 - Posted by: Alexis Herrin (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2025

I was sorry to hear of Gord's passing. There will be many, many reflections by his former driving and non-driving co-workers at Paul's Hauling. Gord could always be relied upon to tell it like it is and at the same time, usually with more kindness and warmth than that "gruff exterior" would let on. Sending my condolences to his family. I knew Gord many years ago in the 70's he was a good friend and was always so nice to me. He gave me a few rides on his Norton that he had back then. I was very sad to hear of his passing today through my brother Dave who was also a good friend of Gord's. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. It is ALWAYS sad to hear of the death of another of the PAUL'S HAULING family. Paul was concerned for all of his employees, and Gord was fairly unforgettable. Another era has passed. Rest in peace. Mary Lou Albrechtsen - Posted by: May Lou Albrechtsen (Paul Albrechtsens wife) on: Jun 30, 2025
