SHARON LOUISE ELLIS

(formerly SHARON OLSON) (nee STALKER)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Louise Ellis, who left us peacefully on the afternoon of July 5, 2025, at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, surrounded by her family. Sharon was 82 years old and faced a brief but courageous battle with breast cancer.

Sharon was the devoted mother of Christopher G. E. Olson (Kim), and cherished stepmother to Teresa Lynn (Peter) and Judy Kathleen (Michael). She was a proud and loving Nana to eight grandchildren: Madyson, Cayden, Kendall, Darion, Devin (Allie), Kierra, Mariah, and Brenna.

She is also survived by her sister Wendy (Ted), and nieces and nephews, Deana (Stephan), Cam, Samantha (Murray), and Shanna (Colin). Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Charles George Stalker and Evelyn Stalker (née Dunfield), her sister Marguerite, and her husband Kenneth Ellis, who passed two months earlier on May 1, 2025.

Born in Brandon, Sharon attended school in Pine Falls and Rivers. A talented violinist, she achieved her Grade 8 through the Royal Conservatory of Music. She performed with local orchestras in Rivers and, in later years, brought joy to many by playing music in senior homes with a musical group.

Sharon spent many years at the Royal Bank of Canada, where she met her husband, Ken. She was also a member of the Lord Selkirk Association of Rupert's land and was the great-great-niece of Winnipeg’s first mayor.

Sharon and Ken shared a passion for travel especially the joys of cruising. Together, they shared a lifetime of unforgettable journeys.

Her ashes will be interred at Old Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery in a private ceremony.

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set me free

I want no tears in a gloom filled room

Why cry for a soul set free

Miss me a little but not too long

And not with your head bowed low

Remember the love that we once shared

Miss me, but let me go

For this is a journey that we all must take

And each must go alone

It's all part of the master plan

A step on the road to home

When you are lonely and sick of heart

Go to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing the good deeds

Miss me, But let me go.
