It is with deep sadness that our family shares the passing of Edward Los on July 7, 2025, at the age of 77 years.
Ed loved Life! He was an honourable man who saw only the good in people. His smile lit up our lives. He was game for anything, anytime! Edward was born on January 27, 1948, in Ethelbert, MB, departing there after high school for the big city. A farmer he would not be. Ed became a land surveyor, spending much time up North. He found his true calling at Unicity Taxi as owner/operator #40, and it was this job he had for over 40 years. His personality suited the work, and oh, the tales he could tell.
Ed was one of the founding members of Romanetz Ukrainian Dancers. He loved doing the hopak with his buddies at socials and it was during this time he met a tall blond in blue tights, and the rest is our story!
Ed and Chris were married for almost 45 years. Together they set their lives around home and family, gardening, many travel adventures near and far, and traditional Sunday dinners.
Papa adored his grandkids and took them swimming, sledding, ice skating, mini-golf, berry picking, and to dance and sports. He finally had a potential golf buddy when lil Ez started hitting balls all over our backyard.
Ed developed a passion for playing golf, watching hockey and football. He had a collection of golf balls that he had fished out or ventured into ponds to collect.
Each spring, Ed and Chris set out to choose their favourite plants for the season. Chris pointed and bought, Ed did everything else.
Left to remember Edward with much love are his wife Christine (nee Slipetz), their son Ryan (wife Chantel, grandchildren, Kay and Ezra), his daughter Corinna (husband Gerry, grandchild Jordan). Ed and I are so proud of how 'all our kids' and grandchildren lovingly devoted their lives to be with Papa over the past 11 months. Chantel, we relied on you as our nurse angel, who strongly advocated for Ed and clarified medical situations for us.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Tillie and Max Los. He is survived by siblings, Trudy (Ralph), Joyce (Clarence), Vern (Marge), Cliff (Val), and several nieces and nephews.
What a good, happy life Ed had .. until a cancerous brain tumour suddenly led to months at Health Sciences Centre and then Holy Family Care Home. Devoted friends and family visited; you know who you are and how much appreciation and love we have for you. While able Ed played Chinese checkers, backgammon, bingo, cards. Most recently, Ed enjoyed the sunshine and glider in the Holy Family gardens. He watched his beloved Jets and even went to see them play two times during his illness. Ed was named season ticket holder of one game, having his big bright smile on the jumbotron.
A grateful Thank You to the aides, nurses, and staff on 2A as well as the wonderful people we've met at Holy Family over the months.
Following cremation at Glen Eden, a private family Celebration of Life will take place in the future.
'... I love you to the moon and back', my sweet Edward.
