KENT VERNON FRASER

Kent passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2025, in the company of loved ones.

He was born January 2, 1958, in Burnaby, BC. In 1960 our family moved to Flin Flon, MB, then in 1966 to Winnipeg, MB, where Kent made his home for the rest of his life.

He started working part-time for Safeway during high school and after graduation from Silver Heights Collegiate, continued with Safeway for over 50 years.

The last 20 years of his life Kent built and enjoyed his place on Lake of the Woods, his happy place.

The family would like to thank all of his friends for their support of Kent (and us) through his last journey. It means so much.

Kent was predeceased by his dad (Vern Fraser, July, 2004) and is survived by him mom, Lori Fraser, sister Gail and Craig McGregor, niece Jessica, nephew Ryan (and kids, Madden, Charley, and Jude), his four-legged roommates, Max and Benny, his aunt Melissa, Aunt Elaine and uncle Dale (Evelyn).

He will be missed.

  • "Uncle Kent" as I have always called him even though he was actually my cousin lol was one of the nicest most easy going people I have ever known. All of his family in Victoria always looked forward to his visits as he did many times over the years. To all my family in Winnipeg I am truly sorry for your loss as Kent was a great guy and will definitely be missed but certainly never forgotten. Love you all - Posted by: DeanReeve (Cousin) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known Kent. We spent several years working together at Safeway, and I always valued his friendship, integrity, and good nature. He was truly one of the good ones…. a kind, genuine person who left a lasting impression on everyone around him. - Posted by: Jayson McLean (Coworker) on: Jul 12, 2025

  • Your Safeway family will miss you. We met at the Unicity Safeway store back in 1984 and became quick friends. We took many an extended break out in the food court enjoying our coffee and a few smokes just talking about anything and everything. Kent had a passion for the outdoors that after every weekend he had many an interesting story to tell. Along the way there were a few setbacks but he faced them head on and we his Safeway family rallied with him My friend it’s been a few years since we’ve spoken but we often speak you when we run into others and say "I wonder what Kent’s up to". God speed old friend, gone too young. - Posted by: Joe Missalino (Coworker) on: Jul 12, 2025
