Robert Raymond Dunstan passed away in Calgary, AB, on Monday, March 10, 2025, due to complications from kidney disease.
He is survived by his wife and partner Deborah Dunstan, and his children, Dr. Jane Dunstan (Dr. Caroline O'Shaughnessy) and Dallas Dunstan, as well as Olga Bate and Priscilla (Kirk) Haegeman.
Robert's high school years were spent at St. John's-Ravenscourt School in Winnipeg, MB, where his natural leadership and athletic abilities were noticed and encouraged. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba, where he also excelled in track, and his MBA at Western University. The strong work ethic he developed through sport, and his passion for his job, kept him working into his 70s, ultimately retiring as the President and CEO of ESI Energy Services, a role which allowed him the opportunity to travel the world.
He will be remembered for the unwavering love and encouragement he had for his family. Robert loved his children, travelling with Deborah, his dogs, and runs on the Stanley Park seawall. It is his family's hope that he continues to enjoy a gin martini "straight up with a twist".
A Celebration of Robert's Life was held in Calgary on Monday, May 5, 2025.
