MARLENE KLUMP
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Marlene Klump on July 20, 2025, at the age of 66. She brought warmth, strength, and unwavering love to everyone who knew her.
Marlene was the beloved wife of Clifford Klump for 37 years and the devoted mother of three daughters: Amber Klump, Chanel Klump, and Mackenzie Klump. She was a proud and doting grandmother to Callie Dueck, who brought her immeasurable joy. “Callie is the light of my life,” she often said.
She is survived by her father, Fred Bennett; Mother-in-law Vera Ash (Klump); her brother, John Bennett (Audra); and her sister, Deborah Schell. She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law Ken Klump, Brian Klump, and Bruce Klump, and sisters-in-law Kathy Blanchard (Darren), Brenda Leullier, and Linda Klump.
Marlene will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Amanda Husson (Greg), Jenny Schell, Melanie Voort, Breanne Klump, Samantha Klump, Ashley Daniels, Keith Bennett, Sean Schell, Travis Klump (Aston), and Chris Daniels (Sarah).
She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Susanna Bennett (2007), and her father-in-law, Churchill Klump (2011).
For 20 years, Marlene devoted herself fully to raising her daughters, creating a warm, loving, and supportive home. Before that, she worked in the Cosmetics Department at Sears Polo Park - where she met Cliff - and later as a Customer Service Representative at the Bank of Montreal, where she was known for her kindness and attentiveness.
Thirteen years ago, she fearlessly followed her passion and began her dream career in real estate with Royal LePage. Helping people find their perfect home brought her great pride and fulfillment.
Marlene had a deep love for her dogs, a daily appreciation for good coffee, and an uncanny talent for finding the perfect item while shopping. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her family.
She will be remembered for her compassion, infectious laughter, devoted support, and the endless love she gave to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she held so dear.
Please join us in celebrating Marlene’s life on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at Canad Inns Polo Park, 1405 St. Matthews avenue.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the First Responders and Paramedics who valiantly tried to save her.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

I met Marlene in grade 9, so long ago now, but my memories feel like yesterday. So many high jinks, laughter, and stories I could tell! She really was one of a kind, and a authentic, gorgeous human being. Love to the families, and all that have been fortunate to have known her. Our heartfelt condolances. Cliff & Family… I was very saddened to hear of Marlene’s passing. I moved to Calgary around the same time you and Marlene were married, so I never really had the chance to know her. Still, from the little I’ve heard — and perhaps even more from what was never said — it’s clear she was a truly special person who brought love, steadiness, and joy into your life. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time, and I hope that in time, your cherished memories will bring you comfort and peace. Our hearts are breaking for everyone who knew and loved Marlene. We spent many years together starting when Mackenzie & Chelsea made friends in nursery school, watching the girls sports games (we shared so many laughs at away tournaments), planning high school graduation and then meeting up at the Heights for a drink to catch up once the girls graduated from high school. Later, anytime we ran into each other she was always so welcoming and friendly, it was as if no time had passed at all. Marlene was a beautiful presence and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Our deepest sympathies to Cliff, Mackenzie, Amber, Chanel and Callie. - Posted by: Wendy & Bob McBey (Friends) on: Aug 08, 2025

My deep condolences to all of Marlene's family members and friends. Marlene had a classic elegance and her eyes always shone brightly with amazing humor and friendliness. I have not seen much of Marlene over the last several years and I am saddened greatly by her passing. I have known Marlene since I was a wee lass, when my brother Reg married Marlene's sister Debbie. My heart reaches out to all who cherished her, and there are many, as so evident by reading all the passages. Sending much love and hugs. xo. Dear Family, We’ve known each other for so long. I was the lucky one to be Marlene’s BFF for 50+ years. All of these words by her friends and yours are perfectly her. Marlene was the bravest, strongest, kindest and warmest human I’ve ever known. She was so much like her Mom, and that was her blessing. Marlene and I shared hundreds of gut splitting humorous moments, but more than that we held each other’s thoughts and dreams. I miss my friend so much already. Her family was the only thing that mattered to Marlene. She loved you very, very much. With love, Nancy (Ringstrom) Jones - Posted by: Nancy Jones (Friend) on: Aug 04, 2025

I met Marlene while working at Sears in the Health & Beauty Aids, Marlene worked in cosmetics and she was the epitome of glamorous in my opinion. We became friends even though I was 5 years her junior. She was kind and sweet to me and I was grateful for our friendship. Marlene attended our wedding in 1983 (I also married a Cliff), and every time I fill up our crystal candy bowl she gave us as a wedding gift I think of her. I saw Marlene's realty pictures on bus benches and was proud that she was my friend so many years ago, and she was still working with people through the years. My sincerest condolences to your family. - Posted by: ruth Lindsey-armstrong (Former co-worker) on: Aug 02, 2025

Marlene & I met around 1988 at Bank of Montreal in Charleswood Centre. She was a little ball of blonde energy and she had this irrepressible spirit. She made us laugh every day. She eventually left the bank to raise her beloved daughters and she absolutely adored them. It was so clear. Whenever we got together, no matter how much time had passed, we just picked up like we had seen each other just the other day. Such was the easy friendship with Marlene. She was so accepting, and had such a great sense of humour. I recall many a time we met and we laughed and laughed,,, my face hurt. I cannot believe that the lovely Marlene is no longer on this Earth. Her family has been robbed but I am sure they all have wonderful memories and hopefully that will give some comfort. For her daughters: your mum will always be beside you ,,, there is no way she can leave you so when you feel alone,,, she is there… just know it,,,, 💕 - Posted by: Stella Morrison (Friend) on: Aug 02, 2025
