I had Mr. Tuckwell as an accounting teacher at TCI, and graduated when he retired in 2001. He was by far my favourite teacher, and to this day still comes to mind when I look back at my school days. He was such an inspiration that I pursued a career in accounting and every time I get a promotion, or a new role, I always think back to him, and how he had a small, but impactful place in my career. I’ll always be grateful to him and his teachings. My condolences to the family. Amanda (Hurrie) class of 2001 - Posted by: Amanda (Hurrie) (Student) on: Sep 01, 2025

I was a very good friend of Geoff when we were doing classes together at the U of M. We enjoyed so many dinners and fun together in the 1970’s and lost contact when I moved to Florida in 1988. Absolutely loved him and so sad to hear the news. Jeff Quinton, who is with me as I write this message and myself wish all the best for the family and our deepest condolences. RIP my friend - Posted by: Robert Riess (Friend) on: Aug 11, 2025

We had such fun with our group in the early days; having lunch at the Paddlewheel restaurant on the top floor of The Bay... mashed potatoes and gravy. We shopped at the Stag Shop where Bob McGregor would outfit us all. I remember Geoff and I travelling out to Riding Mountain National Park in his 1949 black torpedo back Pontiac. On our way into the park there was an accident. This RCMP officer said, "Take this guy to the doctor in town." He was bleeding badly from his face. We had no choice. Eventually found the doctor's place; woke him up after repeated knocking and helped him into the doctor's office. Ruined our night at the local dance, but maybe we saved a life. Huge regrets for your loss to you and your family, Sandra. - Posted by: Barry Blick (Friend) on: Aug 09, 2025

Geoff was my older brother, best friend, mentor and hero growing up together in Winnipeg. He taught me so many valuable lessons in my growing years, like how to drive a car until a few years later wrapped my Corvette around a telephone pole in front of Great West Life. "Drink responsibly Shorty" as he called me and then gave me his ID when I was 17 so I could buy beer and hang out in the pub. We bought a cottage together at Clearwater Bay, took me with his buddies to the Lake George fishing club every year drinking copious amounts of booze and catching nothing but a hangover and shared some great times in Barbados with family and friends. Thanks for the fond memories and good times and for being the best brother this kid could ask for. We miss you terribly Geoffie! - Posted by: Jamie Tuckwell (Brother) on: Aug 09, 2025

My brother Geoff and I shared many a moment together when I would arrive home from Toronto & Geoff would be around the house either going to school or working. This of course was before he and Sandy were married. He was the dearest guy and one I could always get a laugh from, and I miss him very much. Thank you Sandy for giving me something to hold on to. - Posted by: Mary E Butt (Sister) on: Aug 09, 2025

Geoffrey and I worked together briefly at the CIBC, and crossed paths afterwards for a few years. I have fond memories of his wit, his charm and his love for his wife. A sharp dresser in those days. One of those people who pass through your life but you always remember. I send sympathy to his family during these sad days. - Posted by: Scott McWilliam (Acquaintance) on: Aug 09, 2025

It was a warm sunny afternoon at school, when Tuckwell driving his Mom's light blue Nova convertible, top down of course somehow managed to hit the lamp post straight on and the light fell down onto the trunk. That was really something to see. Another memorable Kelvin moment. - Posted by: brian klym (Kelvin) on: Aug 09, 2025
