JOHN CHANDLER
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of John Richard Chandler of Winnipeg, MB on July 19, 2025, at the age of 79.
He will be lovingly remembered by his spouse of 55 years, Yolande, and their children; Roderick (Shannon), Melissa (David) and granddaughter Mia, his siblings; Shirley Deal and Judy Duggan; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; John Sidney Chandler and Florence (Smale) and brother Donald.
While growing up in Halifax, N.S., John decided to enroll in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was very proud to serve especially in Cyprus, in active combat with the Canadian Peacekeepers...an experience of a lifetime!
His love of cars led him to realize his dream when he started a Petro-Canada Certigard franchise. He was a hard worker, always eager to help his customers. To ease into retirement, he proudly followed in Grandpa Silas John Smale's footsteps and joined the Commissionaires Corps., where he enjoyed being a security guard at the Winnipeg Tax Center until he fully retired.
After meeting Yolande, Manitoba became his second home. Since he also loved carpentry and Yolande loved painting, they slowly built together their dream cottage by the lake. It was their little paradise being nature lovers and loving the outdoors to the fullest. Everyone was always welcomed with open arms!
John was quiet, patient and kind and was always ready to give a helping hand. The love for his family was felt from the bottom of his heart! He enjoyed spending time with family, especially with his dearest granddaughter Mia! We shall deeply miss him.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Isabelle Paquin for her dedication and compassionate care throughout the years.
As per John's wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at the St-Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church on August 9, 2025.
