BERNARD CARRIERE

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bernard Carriere on July 25, 2025.

Born on April 23, 1933 to Laura (nee Robidoux) and Daniel Carriere from St. Pierre-Jolys, Bernard grew up as the youngest of ten siblings: Armand, Gertrude, Florio, Albert, Oswald, Rosaire, Liliane, Lionel and Edouard. In 1971, he married Jeannine Levesque (nee Blanchette), a widow with four young children, and he became a father to Pauline (Emil), Linda (Brian), Elaine (Brian), and Paul (Tracey). Over the years, he also became a grandfather to eight grandchildren, Kris, Nicole, Noelle, Danielle, Richard, Lisa, Matthew, and Joshua, and a great-grandfather to five children, Sierra, Kiefer, Locke, Bennett, and Kaine.

Having lived 92 years, Bernard was predeceased by several family members and friends. He joins his wife, Jeannine (February of 2022), his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, brothers-and-sisters-in-law. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Thérèse Carriere, and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Bernard was intensely family-oriented. Over the course of his 50-year marriage to Jeannine, they traveled around the world and became avid golfers. In the 1980s, Bernard and Jeannine constructed a cottage at Traverse Bay, Manitoba which provided many years of enjoyable family times. Mom and Dad will be truly missed by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family is forever grateful to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital that provided Bernard with compassionate care in his final days. The family would also like to thank Bernard’s physicians, Drs. Fowler and Vermette from Centre de Santé for the compassionate care they provided to our father over the past few years.

In keeping with Bernard’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a family celebration of his and Jeannine’s life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives can honour Bernard’s memory by donating to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
