Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) JOHN ALEXANDER
With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Bill Alexander at the Charleswood Care Centre.
He is survived by his wife Joyce (nee Laurie of Beausejour), his daughters Donna Alexander Zwicker (Terry) of Calgary, Arden Alexander (Ron Pidskalny) of Edmonton and son Bill Alexander (Elaine) of Stonewall, his grandchildren Jennifer Zwicker (Ethan MacDonald) of Calgary and John Zwicker (Julie) of Edmonton, his great-grandchildren Amelia and Benjamin Zwicker of Edmonton and William Alexander MacDonald and Eric MacDonald of Calgary as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Violet Alexander (nee Lacey) and Thomas Henry Alexander and his brother Ronald Alexander (Margaret).
He grew up in Weston and graduated from Tec-Voc High School. He immediately went to work for TCA later known as Air Canada as a machinist where he worked until retirement. He received a number of awards over the years for innovative ideas he suggested that were implemented by the airline. He was a 45-year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Like his father and brother, he was a lifetime member of L.O.L. 2569 in Winnipeg. He had also been a musical leader of a children’s flute and drum band sharing his love of music with youngsters.
Bill was a founding member of the Birdwarren Sanctuary for the Preservation of Wildlife, and a founding member of the Agassiz Outdoorsmen. Plus, for many years he and Joyce were actively involved in the Charleswood Garden Club several times proudly winning the Grand Aggregate silver tray for growing the most prize-winning vegetables and flowers at the annual community fair. He loved spending time in his large Charleswood yard with its expansive garden. He was excited to pour through seed catalogues in the winter, start seedlings in his basement and then tend to the transplants in his beautiful Charleswood property.
Bill made lifelong friends at work and in all his various activities. He was always giving a helping hand or fixing something for someone. And it gave him great joy to be the one to pick up the tab for a coffee or a lunch when out with family or friends.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Charleswood Care Centre. His years of care was exceptional. Thank you to all of you!
Honouring his wishes there will be no celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers perhaps consider making a donation to the Charleswood Garden Club, Ducks Unlimited or the Alzheimer Society.

My sincere condolences to you Joyce & your lovely family. I am so very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We enjoyed living next door to you both for over 20 years. You & Bill were always ready with a cheerful smile and always volunteering to help out in any way possible. Ken & I enjoyed so many Veggies from your garden that Bill offered so graciously. I would go out on a winter day to shovel off our driveway, only to find out, that Bill had already done it. My father worked with Bill and had many memories with his family. I had the opportunity to meet him many years ago as a young woman. And my parents Kathy & Hal Moulden since passed but were always talked about as good people from there place at the time in Charleswood. I am the daughter of Hal Moulden working at Air Canada & so did I for 25 years. My father Hal passed a number of years ago at 68. And my mother Kathy passed at 89 in 2023. I would hope Joyce is ok after her cancer Beautiful Family & God Bless 🙏❤️ - Posted by: Christine Moulden (friend of family) on: Aug 25, 2025

I have many fond memories of Christmas at Uncle Bills and Aunty Joyce my favorite memory was the Root Beer Floats that Uncle Bill made for me and especially the 2nd one, don`t tell Pop. Also the Winter snowmobiling and Ice Fishing at their cottage. I can remember going fishing in the summer both Dad and Uncle Bill would take their boats to the Lake and we would go from one lake to another for the day trying to catch fish, on occasion we would even catch some fish. Every year they had garage sales to raise money for the horticultural society. Uncle Bill was a very loud person you knew he was in the room, likely because of hearing loss which he denied just like his brother. He loved to be the social butterfly and was involved in many different things such as Bee Keeping with his brother Ron and their Dad Harry until Uncle Bill got stung too many times and they had to retire from Bee Keeping. Teaching kids how to play the flute because they were in the Junior Orange Band and belonged to the Orange association. Gardening, fishing and hunting with the Agassiz outdoor club (he trained Gunnar the family dog to retrieve ducks). He even started a small business after he retired with Bill Roman called the RinkyDink Construction - No job is too odd. (We still have his card), Uncle Bill and Aunty Joyce did get to Ireland for a visit to see the relatives and see where his Dad came from. Aunty Joyce is a very special lady and was usually involved in some of his adventures especially the horticulture and gardening. Our hearts go out to Joyce, Donna and Terry, Arden and Ron, Billy and Elaine and families you had a very special Husband and Dad and you have lots of memories to share and keep.
