Born: Sep 03, 1955
Date of Passing: Aug 28, 2025
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD (DON) ADAMSON
After complications from cancer surgery, Don passed away, with his loving family by his side, just a few days before his 70th birthday on August 28, 2025.
Don is survived by his sister Gloria; brother Jay (Sherri); and his four nephews, Kevin (Fiona), Matthew, Devon (Megan), and Cole (Sydney).
Don obtained his education degree from Brandon University and then his Special Education designation. He taught for many years across Western Canada including Winnipeg, MB, Northern Manitoba, Kitimat, BC, Wetaskiwin, AB, and Lac La Ronge, SK.
After retiring from teaching, Don took on two part-time jobs that suited his personal interests: Lee Valley Tools and Cabela's. These jobs allowed him to share his knowledge, reconnect with old friends, and create new friendships. At Cabela's, he would provide advice on hunting and fishing, while at Lee Valley Tools, he would provide advice on the use and maintenance of home and garden tools. He loved both of these jobs and people appreciated his vast knowledge and the advice that he could provide.
Don had an amazing memory and could speak on many subjects. He was a voracious reader, especially on history and war. His nephews always thought Uncle Don should be on the Jeopardy game show.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the amazing care and compassion Don received at the Surgical ICU at Health Sciences Centre (HSC). Special thanks to Dr. McKay of HSC, as well as health care staff at Grace and St. Boniface Hospitals.
Don had many fond memories as a kid of our summer trips to Kenosee Lake where we would spend many hours swimming, fishing, boating and exploring. His request was that Kenosee would be his final resting place.
In accordance with Don's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Cancer Society.
