SAMUEL KEITH SCOTT

Samuel Keith Scott passed away on August 28, 2025, at Portage District General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Norma Scott after 68 years of marriage. Also surviving are a son Darrell Scott (Bridgette) at Kenora, ON, a daughter Alison Copet (Richard) at Starbuck, MB, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Keith grew up in Altamont, MB. After finishing high school locally he went to Winnipeg and started a lifelong career with Manitoba Telephone System, starting in July 1953 at age 16. In the next two years he worked on the dial conversions of a number of towns including Selkirk and Portage la Prairie. In October 1955 he moved to Melita to maintain the dial office there and surrounding towns.

In 1957 he married Norma and they settled in Melita. Their son Darrell was born there in 1960.

In 1961 they transferred to Brandon where they spent the next 30 years. Their daughter Alison was born in Brandon in July 1962. In 1982, Keith in a "mid life crisis" bought a used Gold Wing motorcycle. It was the first of three they were to own. They travelled from the west cost of Canada to the east coast plus many U.S. states. They took it to Arizona for the first two winters when they retired.

Norma retired in June 1991. Keith followed in August 1991 after 38 years, one month and 10 days with M.T.S.

They purchased two lots on the lake at Killarney, MB and proceeded to build a new home. In 2007 they sold everything at Killarney and became "full time R.V.ers" spending six summer months at their daughters in Starbuck and six winter months in Apache Junction in Arizona. During this time Keith and Norma and six other couples spent a very interesting 159 day trip in their R.V. through Mexico.

This continued until 2015 when health problems by both Keith and Norma put an end to "full time R.V.ing". They moved into Bowes Estates at Portage la Prairie.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no church service.
