Dinis Soares Benevides was born on October 7, 1934, in Sao Miguel in the Azores Islands. He passed away quietly in his sleep on the morning of September 2, 2025, at the age of 90.
Dinis is survived by his wife, Geraldina, of 67 years, predeceased by his eldest son Evaristo. He is survived by his four children: Manuel, Maria (Joe), Marie (Al) and Nelia (Calvin); his grandchildren: Christina (Adam), Andrea (Ryan), Chantelle, Michael (Leah), Tyler (Chenise). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Aaron, Nicholas, Savanna, Xzavier, Jasper.
Dinis enjoyed being outdoors working in his beautiful garden with many arrays of beautifully displayed flowers. He also enjoyed watching his favourite futebol team Sporting Club Portugal, often seen yelling at the television during intense plays.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 12:00 noon with condolences beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, with interment in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
