I am thinking today of Margie-an old friend from my young days of becoming an adult, a worker, and friend. I remember she lived a long and beneficial life full of helping others, designing better solutions for children and, I am sure, a life filled with those who loved her. In her work as a professional social worker, I knew Margie only for a few years but she remained in my heart and mind for the next 50+. She was a model of helper that was loving and informed who designed better solutions for children needing care and help. From my time spent at the Children's Home of Winnipeg, learning, Margie guided that learning. I learned how to be alive with troubled children, to work as an ally and a helper. In my later years as a professional myself, I often reflected on the lessons learned on the ground running after kids in care whose fears often outstripped their maturity. And Margie helped them with that...and I watched carefully. To all who loved her- this is perhaps a sad day but also a day of appreciating all those who come into our lives with such specialness. - Posted by: J. Lynne Mann (old friend) on: Nov 03, 2025
