AGNES EDITH HUSTON

Agnes passed away just six weeks short of her 96th birthday.

The youngest in her family, she was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Klein, sisters Mary Herman, Ella Klein, Johanna Ruhr and brother Joseph Klein.

Agnes was born and raised on the family farm outside of Silton Saskatchewan. As a young woman, she moved to Regina where she held various secretarial positions and met Richard (Dick) Huston who became her husband of 67 years until his passing in January 2020. In 1952, Agnes and Dick moved to Winnipeg which became their home for the next 40 years. Continuing the Klein family tradition, Agnes was an excellent cook. It was all about the food when family and friends were hosted at their home, with delicious meals and baking always prepared.

In 1965, Agnes started what would end up being a 27 year career at Glenlawn Collegiate. She worked in the school's administrative office, rising to become Administrative Secretary to the Principal, a position she held for 17 years until her retirement in 1992. Agnes had many happy memories of her time spent at Glenlawn. Her interactions with the staff and students produced many lifelong friends.

In 1992, Agnes and Dick moved to Port Moody, BC to be closer to their only child (Cheryl Shearer) and her family. They purchased a lovely home in the "Treetops" community which was only a few blocks away from the Shearer family home. We were all fortunate to have "Gramme" and Grampa's close presence in our lives. The quality time they lovingly spent with their grandchildren, playing games, the countless family dinners, "Doubtfire" nights and many trips taken together helped form a very deep meaningful bond between them and created a wealth of precious memories. When not involved in family activities, Agnes enjoyed playing bridge with her circle of friends as well as spending time with the friends she and Dick made together in the community. Agnes and Dick travelled to many places in the world, but their favourite destination was Hawaii, where, for many years, they would spend the month of February.

In July 2024, Agnes embarked on her final adventure, moving with Cheryl to Toronto to be closer to her granddaughter Kristin and her family. Sadly, just six weeks after Agnes arrived in Toronto, complications from a serious fall she took in her new home became too much for her to overcome.

Agnes is survived by her daughter Cheryl, granddaughter, Kristin Shearer (Daniel Mayne), grandson, Dan Shearer (Michelle Oh), great-grandchildren, Everett and Addison Mayne, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family ceremony and interment will be held at a future date.
