We honour Joy named after her mother’s sister and best friend. Born premature in 1968 to Beulah and William Carlson of Emerson, Joy went to heaven at five days old from Respiratory Distress Syndrome. She joined maternal grandparents Nora (nee Thorsen) and Clifford Warner (1944/45), infant sister Joanne (1959) and paternal grandmother Grace (nee Percival) Carlson (1967). While many family members have passed on, Joy is survived by her mother, Beulah and siblings: Norine, Carilyn, William Jr., and Ray. We did not get to know Joy but we find peace in knowing Joy’s neonatal donation to science may have helped others.
