STAN ENNS

September 6, 1950 -

September 26, 2025

Stanley George Enns, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, has left us to embark upon his ultimate road trip. Sadly, no return ticket, but this trip will provide unlimited burgers, infinite geocaches, and bird-watching opportunities from a premium vantage point.

Stan had many passions, but none surpassed his love for his family. Married in 1977 to the love of his life Maureen Benoit, they began their journey in North Kildonan. While working shift work throughout his career at NavCanada, Stan made extra efforts to attend his daughter Melanie’s dance shows and his son Greg’s sporting events. He cherished time off with family, especially in the summers when we would pile in the van to journey to destinations near and far.

After a brief stint in Ottawa, Stan and Maureen were pulled back home to Winnipeg. Melanie McKague (husband Keith, daughters Teagan and Ainsley), Greg (wife Wesley Wakeman) and many extended family members are in close proximity so we can always feel the warmth of “Uncle Stan and Aunty Mo.” As a proud Grandpa, Stan was always the first person the girls wanted to tell when they achieved any exciting milestone.

Stan retired young so he and Maureen could really live it up! Retirement led to a new hobby of geocaching, combining Stan’s love of nature with his passion for puzzles and brain teasers. The vibrant community of local geocachers provided many new friendships. Most of Stan’s hobbies included the great outdoors, adventuring with friends, family, or even on his own. He loved a good hike, nature photography, or a round of golf. He achieved the ultimate bucket list item of a hole-in-one at his happy place on Hecla Island, on Father’s Day!

Neuroendocrine cancer took Stan from us, but he took great pride in supporting others with a similar rare diagnosis by co-leading a support group via the Canadian Neuroendocrine Tumour Society. Please consider donating to CNETS so that they can continue their fight to stop this horrible disease (cnets.ca).

Stan did not want a sad funeral, so please stop by and celebrate his amazing life and the outstanding friend and family member that he was with us at the Pinnacle Club in Princess Auto Stadium from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Stop and smell the roses and make a toast in his honour! Stan lived a great 75 years and was fulfilled.
