Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD W BUFFIE
I recall an elderly First Nations gent summing up his life declaring, "I have seen everything and tasted everything, now it's time to go." "That", I thought, "was a wise appreciation for living and dignity in dying."
Like him I've been fortunate to have seen and tasted most of the things I wanted to. I 've been blessed with good health, travelled extensively, met interesting people, and had interesting experiences. From an early age, due to an innovative and adventurous mother, I developed a taste for unusual and delicious foods. From early in life, I've been a voracious reader, and my random reading has provided me with an education, though limited in some areas, provided the background to understand and explore the mysteries of life I was interested in. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say the world came to my door.
As a high school dropout, I embarked on an interesting journey in search of a career. I set pins, worked in a chicken hatchery, meat packing plants, and a bottling plant. I worked as a boilermaker, a cat skinner, and as a hydro mechanic. Changing course in my late twenties I embarked on a career in sales. I sold paper products, automobiles, office, telephone and communications equipment.
I've had the health and ability to downhill ski, cross country ski, water ski, canoe, cycle, run, garden, and work out on a regular basis. In retirement I did some freelance writing and had a small business hunting, shaping, finishing, and distributing diamond willow walking sticks which gave me great satisfaction.
In my mid-eighties with most of my relatives and peers gone, I was adopted by the eight Sawicki kids across the street. They call me Grandpa Ron and include me in birthdays and other festivities which greatly enriched my later years. I'd also like to thank Ada and Martin who put up with me spending many pleasurable sessions at the KP mall discussing writing, gardening, chickens, pie making and many other topics of great import. To school mates, coworkers, and those who have enriched my life I'd like to say thank you. Much of this has been accomplished with the aid of AA who has contributed greatly to my life since March 17, 1972.
Ron passed in the night of September 30, 2025, at Middlechurch home with Patricia at his side. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Palliative Care, Riverview and Middlechurch Home for their support.
A private Celebration of a Life well lived is planned for October 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Please contact if you would like to attend. ronwbuffie@yahoo.com

Attended Kirkfield Park School with Ron and remained friends. We did get together for lunch at Silver Heights restaurant with other school chums for a number of years. It was always great discussing our youth and discussing what everyone was doing. As the years went by we lost touch but will always treasure the good times we shared. A life well lived! Rest in peace. Gerry White - Posted by: Gerald White (School Freind) on: Oct 05, 2025

Ron lived with his Mom next door to where I was growing up as a kid. He was a little older than me but as neighbors they were great, kind and quiet. I also looked forward to his articles that he wrote in our area paper. I will miss his words of wisdom. My sincere condolences to the family and friends.
