It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eldon K. Brown on September 25, 2025 at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg.

He is also mourned by his second wife, Mary Edwardsson and her children, Ken Edwardsson (Sarah) of Corvallis, Oregon and Anne Petroff (Shane) and children, Jane and Owen.
Eldon was born in Burnside, Manitoba, just west of Portage la Prairie on June 23 of 1930, the son of Martha Mae (Smith) Brown 1894-1983 and Hugh Gordon Brown 1893-1940. From an early age Eldon learned the value of a good education at Burnside School and living in a community of farmers who worked together planting, harvesting. Life was difficult with no electricity or plumbing. Eldon boarded in Portage for grades 11 and 12 before moving to Winnipeg to study at the University of Manitoba.
In 1954, he married Ethel Mavis Hudson; together they had three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren (so far).
After articling with a Winnipeg accounting firm, he graduated as a Chartered Professional Accountant in 1954. Eldon had a distinguished career at Price Waterhouse as a partner specializing in corporate tax. In 1977 to 78 he served as president of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants, subsequently appointed to sit on the MICPA Discipline Board panel.
Eldon worked with his nephew Jim and wife Brenda Moorhouse growing the family farm into a successful business. Education was always important to Eldon and he cumulatively paid for forty-eight years of post-secondary education for two generations.
He had a passion for golf, curling and travel enjoying these for many years until recently.
We thank the staff on Unit 5 at Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eldon’s name can be made to Victoria Hospital Foundation at thevicfoundation.ca
The funeral will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
