TYLER JOHN LAVERY

November 17, 1976 - October 1, 2025

The family is heartbroken and overwhelmed with sadness to advise that our wonderful son, brother and father passed away on October 1, 2025. Tyler Lavery was a charismatic, thoughtful and talented individual who loved life and any adventures and celebrations with friends, co-workers and family.

Tyler was predeceased by his grandparents, his father John Thomas Lavery (1997), his good friend Kirk Flamand (2019), as well as some very loved aunts and uncles. Our sorrow is only slightly lightened knowing you are all together again.

He leaves to mourn him his biggest cheerleader, mother Susan Katanna, his pride and joy, son Connor Lavery, his favourite sister Tara (Jason) Fillion, great-uncle George (Georgina) Lash, aunt Donna (Doug) Simister, uncle Glen (Linda) Lavery, as well as multiple cousins, friends and neighbours. Special mention to those he cherished: Nina Lund, Jason Harder, Troy Pilotte, Albert Poiron, Chris Petrie, Mike Gauthier, Ryan Marlow, Jesse Swenson, J.P. Dufault, Alyson Leroux, Suzanne Lahr, Nicole Bedard, Max and Kristin Barthelmess, Ian and Sandra Emmons, Gord and Lynne Martens, and the Duprat family.

Tyler was born on a beautiful sunny day on November 17, 1976. He spent his early years ripping it up on his dirt bike, skateboarding, BMXing, swimming and, in general, being an adventurous, fun, blond-haired, blue-eyed cutie. His favourite childhood places were anywhere his dirt bike went, visiting the Iwankow’s at Falcon Lake or the Janssen’s place in Pelican Pouch or camping at Rushing River. He loved any time spent riding in the boat, being towed behind a boat, jumping off a dock or adventuring in the woods.

Tyler completed high school at Windsor Park Collegiate and initially started the career path in culinary arts and then switched to the plumbing industry. Tyler was known for his magician-like ability to problem-solve, making fittings absolutely perfect with incredible speed and dexterity, and quite honestly, he made plumbing look easy. Tyler was known for being polite, loyal and hard-working. He was always willing to help anyone that needed it.

The highlight and best day of Tyler’s life was the day his son Connor was born in 1997. Tyler’s heart was so full of love and adoration for his son. When Connor was young, they loved riding bicycles together, playing in the snow, and just being silly together. The sound of the two of them laughing together will forever be one of our most treasured memories!

He renovated his first two homes in Winnipeg in the Archwood area with special care. With many friends down the lane, he made many wonderful memories fishing the Seine with Connor and organizing fishing derbies with friends. For many years, Tyler owned a cozy cabin at St. Labre that he completely rebuilt on his own, with a fireman's pole to slide down from the loft. It was there that his love for hunting, sledding, ice-fishing and the joys of the simple life blossomed.

Tyler spent his last years in Sioux Narrows, where he was known for his hard-work and for his love of the lake. He made many new valued friendships. He settled into his new home, and enjoyed his recreational toys, boating, sledding and ice-fishing on the lake. He worked in many places in NW Ontario, and we have been told how he was so loved and valued by so many in the community. Tyler enjoyed starting his day by sitting on the dock at the marina watching the sunrise while enjoying his morning coffee.

Life was not always easy for Tyler, and he had struggled with some dark periods. But it never dimmed his love for those that meant the most to him: his son, his family, his dogs (Twizlir and Opie) and his wonderful friends.

Tyler truly worked hard and loved even harder. To know him was to love him. He was just that kind of guy. The life of the party, the guy who would smile and slide onto the dance floor, enjoy the small things like a good cold beer with a friend, a competitive cribbage game, a nice fish, a rip on the dirt bike or a little cuddle. He will be so very missed by so many.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, there will not be a service, and he asked for our forgiveness. Kindly consider a donation in his honour to cmha.ca or manitobaunderdogs.org.

Thank you to Voyage Funeral Home for their virtual website with additional pictures of Tyler on display.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • To the family of Tyler we are very sorry to hear about your loss. We know Tyler from the time we all spent at Andy Lake over the years and for sure he always had a smile and made time to always visit and party. We last seen him about 3 weeks ago when we went for a drive to Dryberry Lake. We just turned around at the boat launch and were heading back and there Tyler came running and chased us down. He was working on a cabin there and recognized our Jeep and invited us in for a tour. We ended up spending about an enjoyable hour there never imagined that was the last time we would see him. Again our sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: George and Henny Boonstra (Friends) on: Oct 06, 2025
