JEAN-PAUL (JP) LAFLECHE
Jean-Paul passed away on September 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
JP will be profoundly missed by his loving wife of 21 years, Sandee (St. Laurent); his children, Eric and Emma; his mother, Agnès; his siblings, Mike (Janet), Joce (Marty Hébert), Henri (Kim), Denis, Roxanne (Paul LaRocque); his nieces and nephews, Natalie (Patrick), Matthew, André (Annick), Kevin (Korrie), Ryan (Kayla), Alain, George, Chloé, Austin, Cabrel, Mylène, Noah, Dominic, Charlotte, Mylah, Jasmine, Jack, Bowen, Parker, Lennon, and Brielle; mother-in-law, Doris; brothers-in law, Darryl and Mark (Meagan). He will also be missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
JP was predeceased by his infant sister, Rox-Anne; father, Sylvio LaFlèche; and his father-in-law, Bob St. Laurent.
JP was born on February 23, 1971, at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the first baby born in their new maternity ward. He grew up in Ile des Chênes, where he stayed to raise his family. He worked at TC Energy for 36 years, first as a materials specialist then as a warehouse foreman and throughout the years many lifelong friendships were made with his coworkers.
He spent many years coaching his son’s hockey team and watching his daughter dance. He built his kids a rink every year and each year it got bigger, fancier and got more lights. He also enjoyed campfires and fireworks at family gatherings. He was a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan; he travelled to Montreal numerous times to attend games and made a yearly trip to Minneapolis to see them play. He started attending MLB games, making it to see the Twins, Cubs, Brewers, Jays and Mets. He also loved his John Deere tractor, snowmobiles, trucks, and a perfectly manicured lawn.
We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at CancerCare and the Thoracic Surgery Department at HSC.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on October 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Notre-Dame-De-Lorette Parish Church, 1282 Dawson Road Lorette, MB. A lunch will be held afterwards at the TC Energy Center in Ile des Chênes. A private family burial will take place at the Ile des Chênes Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba.
