In Loving Memory
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Martin "Marty" Jenkins, age 71, who left us peacefully at his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Born in West Ham, England, to Iris and Haydn Jenkins, Marty immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of two. He grew up in Transcona and attended Transcona Collegiate, where he met the love of his life, Teri Rockwell. They married in 1974, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, support, and unwavering devotion.
Martin learned the art of drafting from his father working alongside him in the family business. He was a skilled carpenter, building homes in Transcona alongside his good friend, Dom. Advancing his drafting career, applying his craft with numerous companies, Marty ultimately retired from Champion Iron Works.
Marty’s life was deeply rooted in love for his family. He was fiercely devoted to his wife, Teri - especially during her residency at Deer Lodge, where she lived with dementia. Marty spent countless hours by her side, offering care and companionship with steadfast loyalty.
A lover of music, Marty was often seen wearing shirts from his favourite bands and enjoyed attending live shows. He played both bass and guitar, and his passion for music was a defining part of who he was. He was also a car enthusiast who took pride in keeping vehicles running. He never missed a chance to cheer on his favourite local teams - the Jets and Blue Bombers.
Marty had a big heart and a sharp wit. He loved animals, especially his cats and fish. He was quick to connect with others and always ready to lend a hand. Even on his hardest days, Marty found a way to bring laughter to those around him. He will be remembered for his kindness, humour, and selfless nature.
Marty is predeceased by his parents, Haydn and Iris. He is survived by his beloved wife, Teri; his brothers, David and Trefor; his daughter, Carolyn (Ziggy); his son, Christopher; and his cherished grandchildren, Maisie and Sterling.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Please email any shared photos and memories to: remembering.marty2025@gmail.com
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, in support of those living with dementia and their caregivers.
