Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE MARGARET GANCHAR
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elsie, mother, grandmother and great-grand mother at the age of 95.
Elsie leaves us to join her departed loved ones; her husband Joseph; her parents; her brothers and sisters and brother-in-law and sisters-in-laws in Germany.
Left to mourn and honour her memory are son Gerald Ganchar (Valerie); daughter Mary Pogorzelec (Stan); grandchildren Kori Desmarais (Mike), Lisa Wowk (Dason), Krista Mancini (Derek), Jenna Fraser (Scott), Mike Pogorzelec (Melissa), Nicole Pogorzelec, Angela Jones (Tyler), Emily McIntosh (Paul); four great-grandchildren and extended family Bev Rose (Dave) and many nieces and nephews in Germany.
Elsie was a kind soul whose love for her faith, family and friends was unwavering. Her home was always warm with the smells of her fine cooking, baking and preserves.
A devout Catholic, Elsie found strength in prayer and joy in her family.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace with the Lord. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
We would like to thank the staff of Homecare and the Palliative Care Team at St. Boniface Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to Mass. Prior to interment, a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held in the Parish Hall. Interment will be at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4287 Main Street, West Saint Paul, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie’s memory to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
